For some, sports are meaningless; for others, they mean everything. For those who relate to the latter, there is no worse feeling than losing a playoff game in your senior year of high school. For the Mamaroneck Varsity Ice Hockey team, the emotions, much like the stage the game was played on, were amplified. So, when it was over, and Buffalo-based Williamsville North poured onto the ice to celebrate its 1-0 win over the defending state champions, it made sense that players laid motionless, face first on the ice. For Mamaroneck (21-1-1) and Suffern (14-8-1), the setting was familiar: Brewster Ice Arena, on the last Sunday in February, with a Section 1 title at stake. For the person working the scoreboard, though, it was unfamiliar territory. It was over before it even began. At least, that’s what it seemed like.

The Mamaroneck Varsity Football team has gotten off to a rough start. The Tigers, who have started the season 1-3, are showing more signs of repeating last year’s disappointing effort, a season in which they finished 2-7, rather than the success they experienced two years ago when they were 7-2.
